Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety SpecialistJob Description

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist provides expertise in the development, implementation, and management of effective Safety, Health, and Environment programs/systems. This role routinely analyzes hazardous situations and identifies alternative courses of action.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, documentation, improvement, and audit of site environmental, health and safety systems to ensure conformance and effectiveness.

  • Determine plant environmental, safety, and health requirements and analyze for compatibility with corporate practices.

  • Provide expertise in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Health, Safety, and Environmental programs/procedures.

  • Perform audits and safety inspections of work environments, processes, and operations in compliance with government regulations and industry standards.

  • Ensure all applicable registrations, permits, and licenses are in place and current.

  • Lead activities in support of Kaizen, Safety Star Point Teams (Safety Committee), Emergency Response Teams, and other project teams.

  • Participate in developing and implementing training programs for employees.

  • Gather data to identify, reduce, or eliminate sources of pollutants and/or hazards that affect the work environment and health of the employees.

  • Ensure that best practices, incidents, near misses, etc., are communicated between facilities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred in Environmental, Health, and Safety)

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant Health, Safety, and Environment regulations/standards experience

  • Professionally recognized safety or environmental certification (ASP, GSP, CSP, CIH, CHMM)

  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Management training in accordance with 40 CFR 262.34

  • DOT training in accordance with 49 CFR 172.700-704

  • 40-hour initial and 8-hour refresher training in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER)

  • ISO experience

  • Knowledge of SAP, HumanTech, and/or other EHS-related software

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with safety regulatory compliance

  • Familiarity with environmental health and safety procedures

  • Experience in developing and implementing safety training programs

Work Environment

The work environment includes performing audits and safety inspections of work environments, processes, and operations. The role involves participating in various team projects and requires excellent communication skills to drive tasks to completion. The position may require adherence to specific dress codes and the use of safety equipment during inspections and audits.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00
