Kaiser Permanente Cash Operations Manager - Talbot Administration Building in Silver Spring, Maryland
Operational accountability for managing the end-to-end cash handling and collection activities for patient service revenue within the Mid-Atlantic region. Span of control includes oversight of processes and associated controls for in-clinic payment transactions, reconciliation, deposits, safe access, bank accounts, electronic and manual payment posting to patient accounts receivable, credit balances and refunds.
Responsible for direct oversight of team conducting accurate and timely application of payments to outstanding receivable, performing deposit activity and reconciliation, resolution of patient accounts credit balances and issuing appropriate refunds for patient service revenue.
Strategically analyzes the cash collection control environment throughout the organization to ensure that the appropriate internal controls are in place to protect the company from financial risk.
Monitors and audits cash collection processes in the medical centers to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Serve as regional subject matter expert on cash and payment management, the point of contact with General Accounting, and the liaison with the banking industry and national treasury.
Optimizes processes and technology supporting cash handling, payment transactions and banking activity to promote efficiency and accuracy of standard operating procedures.
Develops and maintains region-wide and departmental policies and procedures using broader industry best-practices.
Performs administrative management of security rights to safes, bank accounts, and KPHC as well as maintains the relationships with vendors providing materials and/or services associated with these functions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in an accounting, audit, banking, cash collection /control or health care patient business services environment is required, with at least three (3) years in a leadership capacity with a team of at least 5 full time employees.
Minimum three (3) years of management experience is required.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
Thorough working knowledge of proper cash collection practices and cash collection control environments are required.
Demonstrated success at coordinating of a variety of functions, operations and committees or similar experience.
Consistent achievement of objectives and targets, with measurable results
History of successful implementation of technical and operational improvement initiatives across multiple sites
Advanced knowledge of healthcare technology applications and bolt-on tools
Mastery of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
Effectively utilizes time management techniques to ensure successful completion of competing priorities
Advanced knowledge of healthcare Revenue Cycle processes
Previous experience with routine use of financial and audit reporting in daily operations
Able to effectively recruit, train and manage teams
Capable of comfortably working in a matrix organization
Skill and experience in business process redesign, and change management is required.
Demonstrated skills in problem solving, written and oral communication, and multi-disciplinary collaboration are required.
Keep abreast of banking industry best practices and standards.
Experience in medical office operations and accounting practices preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of collections regulations and general familiarity with health insurance laws and regulations is preferred.
