If you are a Project Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! As the Project Engineering Manager - Centrifugal, based in Sidney, OH, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, implementing, and supporting the engineering lab. You will handle the compressor testing and system integration to ensure we help develop world-class centrifugal compressor products. In this position, you will work closely with design engineering, the engineering lab, aerodynamic engineering, the motor development team, AME, program management, procurement, and operations to coordinate and enable, the high-quality, high-performing, and reliable functioning of this new global product. As a Project Engineering Manager, You Will:

  • Collaborate with the design, construction, and acceptance testing teams to detail and coordinate the integration and communication with the compressors.

  • Validate defined design performances, operations, and other specified criteria, including good engineering practices that align with the project design documents, and federal, state, and industry regulatory requirements

  • Coach, mentor, empower, and supervise project engineering team members

  • Develop control and monitoring of the compressor

  • Get deep into details of technical project oversight of the assigned projects including Design Validation, System Validation, and Integration Process

  • Support sales with system solutions as the need arises

  • Technical support for customers both internal and external

  • Drive the development of the Centrifugal Compressor project and system integration by making data-driven decisions

  • Ensure all production-related technologies, equipment, and processes meet all safety requirements following applicable industry standards

  • Drive continuous improvement by applying lean principles

Required Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or related manufacturing technical degree with eight (8) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in design, layout, operation, testing

  • Experience with Compressor Controls, PLC programming

  • Good organizational, project management, presentation, and collaboration skills

  • Ability to recognize and solve simple and complex problems in controls, testing and system

  • Ability to lead multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment

  • Understanding of lean principles

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs

  • Ability to travel up to 5-10% of the time including some international travel

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Ten (10) years of related experience

  • Experience with Centrifugal Compressor design, layout, and testing

  • HVACR experience

  • 3D CAD Software, PLM (Team Center Preferred) and Oracle

  • Experience and Proficiency with assembly, quality tools and processes

  • Experience in Machine Design and Automation

  • Proficient in performing manufacturing DFMEA / PFMEA

Flexible Work Schedule – Hybrid Work Option and Core Hours

This role has the flexibility of a hybrid work from home option up to one day a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Our newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for our HVACR Americas business unit.
