POSITION: Dishwasher

DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage

REPORTS TO: Executive Chef & Sous Chef

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt – Part Time Hourly

Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Dishwasher at the Shreveport Convention Center/Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. Under direction of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, the Part Time Cook primary responsibilities included the following functions in accordance with ASM policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must have positive attitude.

  • Reports to work in proper uniform according to the scheduled time.

  • Follows instructions for each event as given by the Executive Chef and Sous Chef

  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand.

  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition.

  • Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas.

  • Prepare and package individual place settings.

  • Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas.

  • Sweep and scrub floors.

  • Clean and prepare various foods for cooking or serving.

  • Load or unload trucks that deliver or pick up food and supplies.

  • Receive and store supplies.

  • Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas, by hand or using hand trucks.

  • Clean garbage cans with water or steam.

  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

Other duties may be assigned.

Working Conditions

  • The working hours are scheduled based on the needs the facility. PART-TIME ON-CALL scheduling.

  • There is no guarantee of hours on a weekly basis.

  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to report to work as scheduled.

  • Maintain a client service oriented attitude.

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include day, evening, weekends and holidays and can work flexible schedules

Qualifications

  • Be able to work in fast paced kitchen environment.

  • Be able to work in hot, wet, humid and loud environment for long periods of time.

  • Must adhere to local Food Codes.

  • NON-SLIP SHOES REQUIRED.

    Education and/or Experience

  • Possess a High School diploma or GED with (1) year of related experience.

  • At least two (2) years of experience in a Food & Beverage environment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and follow direction

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays

  • Ability to complete required pre-employment food service training, if applicable

  • Ability to work in a team

  • Positive attitude and neat appearance

  • English preferred as primary language, but not required

Working Conditions

  • Will be in contact with chemical cleaning agents

  • Hazards include, but are not limited to, cuts from broken glass, metal cans, scalds and burns, slipping and tripping

  • Frequently immerses hands in water; works frequently in a hot and damp environment

    Other Qualification

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Ability to read signs and follow simple oral and written instructions

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Must be able to pass a background check and meet corporate minimum requirements.

  • Teamwork oriented -- cooperative attitude is a must;

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines;

  • Must be able easily adjust to changing priorities;

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts

  • Must be compliant with Health Codes

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.

  • Ability to stand and walk for entire length of shift

  • Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 60 pounds and place items on high and low shelves

  • Frequently required to reach up to 6-7 feet, twist at waist, bending and squatting

  • Pushing and pulling occasionally, to move equipment, mops and brooms
