Gas Field Specialists, Inc Accounts Payable Specialist in Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania

Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for performing accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions and for any project work as assigned by the Accounts Payable Manager.

Principle Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Reviews all invoices for accuracy and determines appropriate general ledger coding.
  • Answers phones and performs receptionist duties as necessary.
  • Audits invoices and documents as required.
  • Prints and obtains signatures on all accounts payable checks.
  • Distributes signed checks as required.
  • Schedules invoice payments and prepare weekly check runs.
  • Properly accounts for sales/use tax and capital vs. expense classification.
  • Prepare and submit tax exemption forms as necessary.
  • Acts as a liaison between intra company departments.
  • Works closely with billing and purchasing departments to ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Maintains vendor relations to ensure good standing relationship.
  • Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and corporate accounts payable files.
  • Assembles and processes overnight shipments to branches.
  • Assists in monthly closings.
  • Prepares analysis of accounts, as required.
  • Performs general office duties such as filing, scanning, and copying.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work successfully with a wide variety of people at different levels within the organization.
  • Working knowledge of Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Ability to keep company proprietary information confidential.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) and above average math skills.
  • Detail orientated with strong organizational skills.

Specific Educational / Vocational Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree helpful but not required.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience

Environment

Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use; frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular).
