Vectrus HVAC Mechanic in Sheppard AFB, Texas

Overview

Responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and operating heating systems, air conditioning systems, ventilation systems, air compressors, etc. Performs water treatment on closed loop and open loop HVAC systems. Performs work on commercial and residential air conditioning and refrigeration systems to include refrigerators, freezers, water coolers, de-humidification equipment, humidifiers. This position requires the performance of on-call duties as well as shift work during the on-call period.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of HVAC equipment.

  • Performs minor controls repair or replacement. Replaces electrical motors, operators, etc.

  • Assists in the descaling of equipment as required.

  • Installs, repairs, maintains, and operates air conditioning equipment, refrigeration systems, water coolers, air compressors, vacuum systems, etc.

  • Works with EMCS to ensure HVAC systems are monitored and controlled by EMCS.

  • Performs preventive maintenance on AHUs, chillers, condensers, boilers, furnaces and pumps.

  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of the customer and mission.

Qualifications

  • Education/Certifications: High School Diploma. Universal EPA certification required. Valid State Driver’s License.

  • Experience: Five (5) years of HVAC experience required (military experience may be substituted). HVAC license highly desirable and may substitute for years of experience.

  • Skills: Must have the ability to work alone. Must be able to read and comprehend wiring schematics. Ability to operate laptop computer or hand-held device to program HVAC systems. Ability to address a wide variety of audiences. Strong attention to detail and ability to execute on multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must have the ability to interact with the customer and company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner. Must have the ability to work extended periods of time on a computer and read, write, and speak English.
