WestRock Company Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic in Sheldon Springs, Vermont

Some of the ways you will impact Westrock include, perform a variety of maintenance and repair activities which may involve mechanical, structural, or rotating equipment support in a large paper mill. Seeking experience in welding, bearing installation, alignment & rigging; preferably in a manufacturing environment. Perform preventive maintenance inspections, assembly and repair of mill equipment, and in-shop rebuilds of rotating assemblies. Use a variety of both small and large hand and power tools, overhead cranes, hoists, man-lifts, forklifts and related tools and moving equipment. Uses fall protection and other safety devices as needed.

Essential Job Functions

Practice safe work habits. Follows proper lock out tag out procedures as required

Performing scheduled and reactive corrective maintenance on production equipment

Performing scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance on production equipment and facility assets

Rebuild of rotating equipment

Use CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) to document job details

Troubleshoot mechanical or electrical problems in a timely manner

Independently performs all assignments after being given general instructions as to the results expected.

Ability to work shift work or weekends as required

Participate in meetings and training activities

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Trade school training or equivalent or relevant work experience in the manufacturing environment.

General maintenance knowledge of maintaining and monitoring equipment (pumps, turbines, compressors, stationary equipment, etc.)

Must be able to effectively evaluate equipment performance and trouble-shoot equipment & process problems through the use of critical analytical skills.

Demonstrated team and influence skills to work with supervisors and craft to execute maintenance practices in accordance with Maintenance Best Practices.

Ability to access all areas of the plant and conduct physical evaluations of grounds and equipment including ability to climb and work at high elevation

Mental and Physical Requirements:

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, smell and hear. The employee will be required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch and crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 75 pounds.

Work Environment:

An employee in this job is exposed to outside weather conditions, hot conditions inside, toxic or caustic chemicals, and has a risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
