SUMMARY

Repair, maintain, and set up molds so they are available for production.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Changing components of family molds to facilitate production of different products.
  • Repairing, cleaning and inspection of molds.
  • Lubricate and maintain internal and external components of tooling.
  • Proper use of Bridgeport, lathe, grinder, and other machinery.
  • Operate overhead cranes and lift trucks to transport and move dies and molds.
  • Proper use of various hand tools, power tools, lifts, gages, etc. in the repair and maintenance of tools.
  • Maintain the tool room to provide a safe and hazard free environment.
  • Comply with all policies contained in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

     

QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.  Associates degree or technical training in related fields such as engineering, metalworking, mold design, etc. a plus.
  • Minimum two years experience working in tool room, metal or plastics manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of part and mold complexities.
  • Knowledge of plastic injection molds.
  • Knowledge of proper use of horizontal mills, lathes, grinders and cut off saw.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of and commitment to safe working practices and must pass company safety training and licensing as required.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.

     

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be physically able to perform all tasks and duties as described throughout this job description; ability to bend, stoop and carry heavy objects weighing up to 40 pounds.  Sufficiently mobile to function in a shop floor environment that includes the ability to crawl, kneel, lift, pull, sit, stand and walk for shifts working up to 12 hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
