About the Role

  • Support the execution of MPTSH Purchasing Process as applicable to each program. Direct and coordinate all purchasing activities between suppliers and all areas of organization.

  • All aspects & functions involved in the application purchasing buyer.

Your Responsibilities

  • Follow the Global Purchasing Procedure at the division level. Divisional Purchasing lead responsible for parts or suppliers of new programs following GPMS system. Ensure launch readiness status is satisfactory. Prepares quotations packages (SORs) for supplier bidding process for new and current business and/or re-sourcing using eRFX system. Plan, organize, direct, and control activities, related to the purchasing function with the objective of optimizing the total cost of purchases, while selecting the optimal capable source to support the program in all areas. Participate in supplier quotations to obtain the best overall purchase on behalf of the company.

  • Identify resourcing needs and opportunities as well as possible VAVE projects and set up implementation teams in cooperation with strategic purchasing. Create and implement material cost savings programs together with strategic purchasing. Award purchase orders within the frame work of the GPP for current business and/or re-sourcing; following the GPP. Manage day to day purchasing operations needs/supplier interactions and cooperate with other functions in the divisions on purchasing related tasks and keep divisional management informed (Operations Manager and Material Supervisor). Negotiates the best possible price for production materials, MRO, freight, capital and services as required. Resolve supplier issues, price increase requests, and quality and shipment issues in cooperation with Strategic Purchasing, SQD. Responsible to enter Supplier Premium Freight charges into QPF.

  • Manage high risk and past due suppliers as required, 7 days a week if necessary. Provide updates daily on production targets vs. actuals for suppliers required to work weekends for MPTSH. Address and resolve short term production delivery or purchase order problems with a sense of urgency. Participate in supplier Long Term Agreements and supplier giveback terms for current and/or re-sourcing business. Participate in supplier credit terms and the completion of credit applications. Establishes and maintains controls for quantity, price, and delivery of all incoming purchased items. Establishes and maintains controls to receive replacement items and/or credit on all returns to suppliers.

  • Develop/Deliver cost savings for materials and services for each commodity in divisional KMIs. Ensures safety and environmental processes and procedures are followed when ordering items. Maintain and report out in regular scheduled meetings with Operations Manager the following: Open issues, supplier cost recoveries, RFQ tracking, and divisional KMIs. Participate in Group Q2 meetings. Maintain supplier relationships that are both productive and mutually beneficial while continually searching for and re-negotiating cost savings on new sourcing opportunities with current and/or new suppliers. Ensure suppliers respond appropriately to the program management requirements including issues of delivery, cost, or quality up to PPAP

  • Responsible to prepare spot buys, tooling, and blanket PO’s. Responsible for promoting and seeking excellence in all aspects of business. Attend and participate in supplier visits. Aids and assists in department reports and presentations. Participates in continuous improvement activities, submits improvement suggestions. Helps support all MAFACT activities.

  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including IATF 2016:16949, ISO14001 (EMS), and Employee Handbook. Treating team members with dignity and respect and in accordance with the Magna Employee’s Charter and Common Values. Follows MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment). Complies with the designated ISO / 14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management in accordance with MPT’s Environmental Management System (EMS).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Technical degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience in Purchasing/Supply Chain Management. Excellent skills and experience in contract and price negotiations in a manufacturing environment. Advanced knowledge or Production Purchasing and Powertrain components. Strategic thinker and implementer of effective tactical plans. Assigns the highest priority to customer satisfaction while meeting commitments to achieve business objectives. Performs function with a sense of purpose and a high degree of urgency. Ability to work flexible schedule and hours to meet supplier, customer, and production needs. Creates a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technicalknowledge

  • Language Skills: Requires extensive tact and communication skills (verbal and written) for direct supplier communication. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Must be able to communicate in both written and spoken English.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate basic math, understanding of decimals, ability to add, subtract and multiply Reasoning Skills: Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to use problem solving when presented with problems or duties that do not have immediate answers or results.

  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, proficient with CMS, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint) including ability to create spreadsheets.

  • Communication Skills : Ability to use active listening and assertive communication when needed. Ability to give positive and constructive criticism feedback effectively
