Township of Shelby Nature Center Aide in Shelby Township, Michigan

The Charter Township of Shelby Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center is now accepting applications for a part-time Nature Center Aide. The schedule for this position would be up to 20 hours a week (Tuesday-Sunday) between the hours of 10am-6pm. The Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center is located within our River Bends Park (4101 River Bends Drive, Shelby Township, MI 48317). The beginning wage is $14.38 per hour, no benefits.

Some of the job duties associated with this classification would include, but would not be limited to:

  • Plan, prepare, and lead programs (guided hikes, school field trips, home school programs, scout badges, and birthday parties).
  • Greet and assist all visitors and participants in a cordial, informational, and welcoming manner.

``` - Register patrons for programs in RecPro and process any confirmation/cancellation paperwork. - Assist in the booking, scheduling, and set-up/take-down of Nature Center rentals, including field trips, outreaches, room rentals, and birthday parties. - Provide support special events. - Be willing to work a flexible schedule with some evenings and holidays (for animal care) - Provide daily care for animal ambassadors, including (but not limited to): preparing/distributing animal diets; providing routine husbandry and cleaning of enclosures; and maintaining accurate record keeping and reports. - Provide excellent customer service to all our guests. - Answer/respond to all phone calls and e-mails in a timely manner. - Ensure Nature Center is clean and presentable at all times. - Performs other duties of this position or related positions as may become necessary or as directed by the Nature Center Coordinator.
