Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time Days

Monday – Friday

8:00AM – 5:00PM

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.

  • Respond accurately to a high volume of calls, demonstrating exceptional customer service & listening skills.

  • Maintains a pleasant, caring attitude when communicating with guests and patients through face to face contact, by phone or electronic communication.

  • Resolves patient issues on initial call or provides timely follow-up when additional research is required.

  • Handles incoming calls concerning patient balances, collecting payments and assisting patients as needed with their accounts and inquiries.

  • Maintains detailed and accurate documentation of all patient account related communication.

  • Processes Financial Assistance applications per hospital policy in a timely manner.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • 2 years’ experience in customer service-oriented position

  • Demonstrated customer service skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively over the phone and in person

  • General clerical skills

Job Summary:

The Customer Service Specialist is an accountable member of the patient care team, responsible for critical functions within the patient business office. These functions contribute to the smooth operation of the patient business office and a positive patient financial experience. Responsibilities include answering incoming phone calls in a fast-paced environment, greeting patients coming into the department, interpreting the status of patient accounts, and collecting balances due from patients. The Customer Service Specialist will also act as a liaison between other departments and carriers and agencies outside the hospital.
