Hours : Per Diem

Work shift : 7:30am-4:00pm

Summary:

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting. Communicates with physicians/Nurse Manager/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides case management to a group of patients providing specific assessments according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management.

  2. Acts a patient advocate in delivery and coordination of patient care.

  3. Provides efficient and effective care with the guidance of the physician during the clinic sessions, attends the clinics where scheduled and is dependable. Able to manage a number of patients at the same time with high energy and organization.

  4. Collaborates with other health care providers, wound care center physicians, program director and medical director, regarding clinic and patient needs.

  5. Approaches patient in a kind, gentle and friendly manner.

  6. Gives patient explanations and verbal reassurances consistently.

  7. Utilizes nursing procedures as a media for communication and interaction with patient.

  8. Documentation meets current standards and policies and is completed within the shift.

  9. Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated. Organizes and manages activities reflecting due consideration for the needs of the department and staff.

  10. Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Requirements:

Registered Nurse with current CT license. Wound care certification preferred. Medical Surgical, home health or wound care experience also preferred.

Maintains and demonstrates competence in BLS (basic life support)

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
