The Live Site Engineering team in Microsoft AI is dedicated to ensuring the production service operation. Our team collaborates closely with service owner teams worldwide to conduct live site readiness reviews, manage incidents, measure, and improve production service quality. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and solutions in Microsoft Copilot, Bing Search, Ads, Maps and Edge browser, etc., serving over hundreds of millions of users and delivering high availability and performance to customers.

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to join our team and work with counterparts in other parts of the world to manage production service quality and drive the development process of internal services and tools.

Responsibilities

The Technical Program Manager (TPM) collaborates with PMs in other parts of the world on all stages of the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are completed within set deadlines and budget. TPM coordinates the efforts of team members and global partner teams to deliver projects according to plan. TPM regularly reviews key service metrics, identifies issues, and implements solutions. They also prepare comprehensive service reviews for the Leadership team, providing insights into user experience, service quality, and system performance. This role requires strong technical, project management, and communication skills.

  • Collaborate with others to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.

  • Oversee project execution, ensuring completion within set deadlines and budget.

  • Manage projects for team members and global partners, synchronizing efforts for project success.

  • Ensure clear communication of roles, responsibilities, and project objectives.

  • Regularly review key service metrics such as uptime, response times, and error rates.

  • Monitor service performance, ensuring it meets or exceeds set standards.

  • Proactively identify and highlight service issues based on metric reviews.

  • Coordinate with relevant teams to understand root causes and implement effective solutions.

  • Compile service metrics and project progress for comprehensive service reviews.

  • Present these reviews to the Leadership team, providing insights into service status and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years’ experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development or equivalent experience

  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Experience working with agility development, devops, production incident handling.

  • The technical aptitude and experience to learn new technologies and understand relevant industrial trends quickly.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, navigate uncertain situations, and drive for clarity.

  • Possession of certifications such as PMP or ITIL is considered an advantage.
