This posting will be used to fill multiple vacancies assigned for the high school student worker Phoenix Program. Positions are in various locations; St. Paul, Roseville, Oakdale, Bemidji, Detroit Lakes, Virginia, and Mankato. The job class noted above is Student Worker Clerical.

MnDOT‘s Phoenix Program is a partnership between MnDOT and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) high schools which provide student worker opportunites for high school students enrolled in science, technology, engineering or mathematics courses.

The program also partners with local youth employment organizations including Step Up; Achieve, Right Track, and EMERGE. Students who do not attend a PLTW school but are participating in one of these partner programs are also eligible for the program or are taking STEM classes.

By working at various MnDOT offices and districts statewide, Phoenix Students Workers gain on-the-job work experience in a variety of functional areas within the agency.

Minimum Qualifications

To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification listed.

To be considered for the program, applicants must meet all the following requirements:

  • Students must be enrolled in a Project Lead the Way high school, or taking (or have taken) PLTW classes or other STEM courses, or participating in Step Up, Right Track or EMERGE Youth Employment programs;

  • Students must have completed junior year by June 2024 and going into senior year of high school for the 2024 - 2025 school year;

  • Students must have a 3.0 or higher GPA.
