Join a team of outstanding engineers in our Shakopee, MN facility! This role requires onsite work five days a week.

How You'll Help Us Connect the World:

As a member of our engineering team, this position will work with multi-functional teams to design and release new products and improve existing products. The primary focus will be to support new product development. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Project Team:

  • Participate in product development and cost-reduction team efforts

  • Document product requirements based on industry standards and to support the release of new and modified products.

  • Build designs of new components and assemblies and support the optical and mechanical testing of our fiber optic products.

  • Work with manufacturing on process development and introduction of new products into manufacturing.

  • Perform data analysis, evaluation and failure analysis. Write test reports detailing the results of testing.

  • Review and approve product design and engineering change documentation for conformance to company, customer, agency and industry specifications and standards.

  • Generate a Record of Inventions for innovations and pursue intellectual property protection.

Department:

  • Develop awareness of corporate, business unit and quality management system documentation.

  • Develop knowledge of fiber optic products, relevant industry standards for these products and technical principles.

  • Gather knowledge of the range of lab test equipment and engineering tools such as LEAN or 6-sigma, DMAIC or other improvement processes, DoE, FMEA and MSA

  • This position may travel to international locations and has growth potential per engineering technical ladder with six additional engineering titles each with increasing responsibilities.

  • Collaboration with current staff, which includes other engineers and technicians in a team-oriented environment.

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or in the equivalent field with some design experience through an internship.

  • Experience with 3D modeling tools like CREO or SolidWorks

  • Understanding of design for manufacturing.

  • Live within commuting distance of our Shakopee, MN facility

You Will Excite Us If You Have:

Experience with design/test of fiber optic connectors and cable assemblies used in Enterprise and Carrier markets per international and Domestic standards (TIA-EIA-568B, GR-326, etc).

  • Solid interpersonal abilities, including excellent writing skills.

  • Skilled at planning and the ability to pay attention to details.

  • Ability to optimally work within a team-based environment.
