Position Title : Boiler Operator 3rd shift (11pm -7am )

Pay Rate: Starting at $37.34 plus a $.30 shift differential

Category/Shift : 3rd Shift - 11:00pm to 7:00am

Physical Location: 3701 4th Ave E Shakopee, MN 55379

International Paper is looking for an experienced Boiler Operator to join our maintenance team. The primary responsibilities of this role include preventative maintenance and water treatment, but you may also perform pipe repairs, so welding experience or skills are beneficial. All applicants must be licensed with 1st class B license.

Boiler Operator Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain high and low-pressure boilers

  • Perform minor pipe repairs

  • Replace worn parts, including valves and filters

  • Ensure optimal and continuous operation of mechanical systems by performing routine inspections and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment and adjusting levels as necessary

  • Maintain systems by performing regular inspections, cleanings, filter replacement and all other tasks necessary to keep all components performing optimally; identify and repair or replace malfunctioning components

  • Ensure safety by monitoring safety equipment, routinely testing safety devises, and identifying potential issues and taking appropriate steps to suspend operations and repair the problem

  • Perform necessary repairs and replacements, obtain replacement parts and upgrade components as needed while staying within the budget

  • Study to keep current on knowledge of all applicable safety laws and regulations in order to ensure full compliance at all times

  • Properly document records of operation, inspections, maintenance routines, safety and repairs

  • Operate engines, boilers, and auxiliary equipment including fire protection and air compressors

  • Read gauges, meters, and charts to track boiler operations

  • Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels

  • Process water sampling and treatment

  • Making adhesive for the corrugating process

Job Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Detail-oriented and highly safety-conscious

  • High school diploma or GED certificate

  • Boiler 1st Class B Operator license

  • Welding experience a plus

  • Driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Physical stamina

  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management system
