Bellefaire JCB School Based Counseling Intern in Shaker Heights, Ohio

Bellefaire JCB is among the nation’s largest, most experienced child service agencies providing a variety of behavioral health, substance abuse, education and prevention services. Through more than 25 programs, we help more than 30,000 youth and their families each year achieve resiliency, dignity and self-sufficiency.

Program Summary: Bellefaire’s School Based Services Program places licensed behavioral health specialists and social workers in schools throughout Cleveland and surrounding suburbs to address the mental health needs of students. Our School Based team provides services including assessments, community support treatment, weekly individual and group counseling and prevention programs for students, ranging from pre-kindergarten to grade 12.

Intern Position Summary: Under the administrative/clinical supervision of the School Based Supervisor/ Field Instructor, the School Based Services Intern provides professional clinical services, including but not necessarily limited to: biophysical assessments, treatment plans and reviews, individual counseling, group counseling, family therapy, CPST, TBS, prevention, consultation and aftercare planning.

Intern Experience Details: The School Based Services Interns provide the following services, including, but not limited to:

+ + Co-facilitating individual and/or group counseling

  • Co-facilitating school and family education

  • Co-facilitate individual skill trainings and group work

  • Contact and meet with parents of clients for purposes of ongoing training and service coordination.

  • Other services necessary to the enrichment of the internship environment.

Location: This position will be on-location in the schools and occasionally in-home to provide treatment in the child’s natural environment. Travel is required.

Hours: Field hours are flexible. Occasional evenings are required.  

Qualifications: This internship is for first or second year Masters’ level students. As such, this position requires a Bachelors degree and the student must be currently enrolled in a Masters program. An SWT, CT, LPC, MFT or LSW is required. Note: The Cuyahoga County School Based Program accepts second year students only.
