Bellefaire JCB Mobile Response and Stabilization (MRSS) Intern in Shaker Heights, Ohio

Bellefaire JCB is among the nation’s largest, most experienced child service agencies providing a variety of behavioral health, substance abuse, education and prevention services. Through more than 25 programs, we help more than 30,000 youth and their families each year achieve resiliency, dignity and self-sufficiency.

Program Summary: The Mobile Response and Stabilization Service (MRSS) Program is a short-term, intensive community-based support program that can include: safety assessments, de-escalation, skill building and linkage to ongoing support. A hallmark of MRSS is that the team responds to a family-defined crisis. If the caller/family deems the situation worthy of intervention, our team is deployed. Essentially, we are responding to immediate crisis situations within the community, de-escalating situations and working through comprehensive safety plans with families, among other services.

Intern Position Summary: Under the administrative/clinical supervision of the MRSS Supervisor/ Field Instructor, as the MRSS Intern you will work as a member of a crisis response team and will provide provide crisis services to families who are experiencing difficulties in response to any number of internal and external stressor. Working with a team comprised of Clinicians, Qualified Mental Health Providers, and Peer Support Specialists, you will provide culturally competent clinical services such as crisis assessments, safety plans, MRSS plans and updates, and individual crisis counseling.

Intern Experience Details: As the MRSS intern, you will provide the following services, including, but not limited to:

 

  • Respond to immediate crisis in the community, de-escalating crisis situations, safety planning with families, and providing up to 6 weeks total of skill building services while working to link families to longer term supports.

  • Assist in providing both crisis intervention and de-escalation services.

  • Work with at risk youth and families in the community.

  • Develop and implement client and family safety planning and risk assessment as well as both family and individual skill trainings.

  • Assist in the engagement of advocacy opportunities.

  • Learn about public policy that contributes to new programming to support youth and families in crisis if in line with learning needs.

  • Formulate goal-oriented MRSS plans in accordance with the MRSS model, inclusive of step-oriented processes for preventing crises and the stabilizing the family unit.

  • Provide advocacy and coordination with schools, the justice system, social services, health services, and like agencies as needed.

Location: This position will be on-site at our downtown Cleveland location.

Hours: The working hours are flexible. Some evenings should be expected.  

Qualifications: This internship is for Masters’ level students pursuing a degree in SWT, CT, LPC, MFT or LSW. Therefore, a Bachelor’s degree and enrollment in a related Master’s program is required.
