Bellefaire JCB Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in Shaker Heights, Ohio

The Monarch School for Autism at Bellefaire JCB is looking for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to work with our youth! The Monarch School COTA serves as part of an interdisciplinary team of professionals who are expected to provide the highest quality of care to students in individual and/or small class settings. The COTA will provide direct and indirect Occupational Therapy services to all students at the Monarch School requiring Occupational Therapy intervention. The Monarch School COTA is supervised by the Occupational Therapist.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Provide direct therapy to children with autism on a one-to-one and small group basis.

  • Contribute and collaborate in the evaluation process by gathering data, administering standardized tests and /or objective measurement tools, and reporting observations for children with autism.

  • Contribute and collaborate in the IEP/ISP and ETR process

  • Observe and report to the Occupational Therapist on the use of sensory supports within classroom environment.

  • Complete progress reports utilizing data that was collected over the 9 week period.

  • Provide feedback, develop and implement supports as it relates to occupational therapy to the family on various issues that are discussed.

  • Provide consultation and training to interdisciplinary team regarding Occupational Therapy needs with the supervision of an occupational therapist.

  • Provide in-class observation and consultation of Monarch School students with the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Associates Degree of Applied Science

  • Ohio State Licensure; Certification by the American Occupational Therapy Board as a COTA.

  • Basic Knowledge of child and adolescent development, behavior theory and autism. Openness to multi-disciplinary and eclectic approaches to treatment.

  • Combination of education, training and/or experience in working with autistic children.
