Job Description:

Summary

We are looking for an all-star Process Engineer who will help lead the execution of Process and Quality Improvement projects at the Shafter Shingle Plant. Drive improvement utilizing standard improvement tools such as Braincube, Minitab, MVT/DOE, and Kepner Tregoe. Use a Hierarchy of values (Safety, Quality, Service, Cost) in prioritizing, using plans and executing capital improvements resulting from these projects.

Essential Duties

Lead the execution of Quality and Process Improvement projects and activities, using standard process improvement tools such as Braincube, Minitab, MVT/DOE, Kepner Tregoe. Use the Hierarchy of values (Safety, Quality, Service, Cost) to prioritize. Plan and execute capital improvements resulting from these projects. Coordinate Plant Trials with R&D and plant personnel. Ensure trials are accurately conducted and reported.

20-25% Lead process trials, raw material qualification, product and process qualification, and capability studies. Perform PPA/FMEA on all major process and raw material changes. Monitor and provide guidance for optimal raw material usage.

10-20% Lead the application and interpretation of SPC control charting. Utilize data analysis skills to identify improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

10-15% Assist in the development of process specifications, entering plant change notices (PCN’s), and other in-plant processes. Conduct internal compliance audits of product testing.

10-15% Provide production line support focusing on the machines, materials, and production employees. Help to improve efficiency in the line.

10-15% Lead and facilitate problem solving teams and project teams as a technical resource geared towards improving the performance of existing processes and raw material handling systems.

5–10% Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Familiar with standard Manufacturing concepts, practices & procedures i.e. the 6 building blocks

  • Intermediate knowledge of engineering fundamentals including ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings

  • Intermediate proficiency using root cause analysis to troubleshoot and solve problems

  • Intermediateabilitytotranslatetechnicaldataintoaformat/languagesuitablefor personnel

  • Intermediate skills in process hazard analysis and process safety management

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/ Google Suite and various data analysis software programs

  • Intermediate knowledge of manufacturing analysis tools, such as statistical analysis/statistical process control (SPC), process capability studies, lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, Kepner Tregoe, and/or Design of Experiments (DOE)

Physical Demands

Ability to climb ladders, heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), walking, standing, bending, stooping, work in confined areas, potential exposure to particulates, vapors or noisy environments.

  • 3+ years’ experience in a continuous manufacturing process environment

  • Lean Six Sigma belt certification is a plus

Annual Salary Range: 76,500-97,750
