Program Summary

KBR will help sustain the well-being of U.S. armed forces at Morón Air Base in Spain, as well as Incirlik Air Base, Izmir Air Station, Office of Defense Cooperation –Turkey and the Ankara Support Facility also in Turkey. The company will keep these bases and facilities operating smoothly so deployed Air Force and government personnel can execute their missions without distraction.

KBR’s work will include program management; civil engineering; morale, welfare and recreation support; postal operations; and safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene and ambulance services. It will also provide logistics support, such as vehicle management, fuel operations and air terminal services. KBR received this contract – which has a five-year base period and three one-year options—from the Air Force Installation Contracting Center.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the General Maintenance Craftsman provides general facility maintenance to include but is not limited to minor construction, emergency repair, carpentry, welding, plumbing, welding, and emergency tasks required to maintain the base.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the General Maintenance Foreman (Structures), and or assigned applicable work leader.

  • Ensures all tasks assigned are carried out in a satisfactory manner in accordance to established standards.

  • Performs preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and repair on facilities and installed equipment.

  • Preforms actions to mitigate emergencies associated to the base facility maintenance and operations.

  • Performs corrective maintenance actions associated in electrical, plumbing, structural, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration.

  • Performs emergency repairs and tasks associated to all facilities and infrastructure systems on base. This includes emergency generator startups, emergency water plant startups operations, and barrier inspections / resets.

  • Augments airfield sweeping operations when needed.

  • Work may be strenuous and may involve working outdoors during inclement weather.

  • Complies with applicable Royal Decree, OSHA and AFOSH safety regulations.

  • Must be knowledgeable of Spanish and USAF safety policies.

  • Adheres to all pertinent USAF / KBR policies, plans and directives.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned including supporting other departments or special projects.

  • Seeks to improve service to the customer at reduced cost. Makes suggestions related to use of improved procedures, methods, technology, tools and equipment, and human resources to achieve improved productivity, quality and cost performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and other articles.

  • Knowledge of the use of power and hand tools to include: hammers, saws, drills, planers, air compressors, ladders, and lifts. Additionally has knowledge of common carpenter and electrical measurement equipment, etc.

  • Must have at least six (6) months of trade-related work experience. This does not include similar combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum technical school completion or equivalent.

  • Shall possess a Spanish Class ‘C’ driver’s license.

  • Must have ability to communicate in native language.

  • Must have English Reading Level I, Written Level I, Verbal Level I.

  • The physical requirement of the position includes light lifting of up to 30 kilograms, for heavy lifting up to 50 kilograms, heavier items proper handling equipment is utilized. Moderate exposure to skill includes dust, wide temperature range, noise, vibrations, fumes, harsh chemicals, odors, pollens and grasses, grease, machinery and moving parts, sitting and driving for long periods, bending, stooping, on knees, both indoors and outdoors, and inclement weather, with occasional exposure to hazardous work conditions.

  • Employee will require to wear issued personnel protective equipment (i.e., steel-toed shoes, work gloves, eye protection, etc.) and any other items required to perform assigned duties.
