Jacobs Mechanical Engineer 4 in Severn, Maryland

Your Impact:

  • Provides mechanical engineering expertise.

  • Analyzes complex systems, hardware, and architecture to resolve operational issues.

  • Performs engineering calculations, performs Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), drafts project specifications, prepares technical reports, prepares design estimates, and manages configuration control.

  • Researches, designs, evaluates, installs, operates, and maintains mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.

  • May work with other engineering staff in the design and development of electro-mechanical devices and components.

  • Uses standard procedures in carrying out assignments associated with research, design or development of specific parts, components, or minor phases of a project.

  • Coordinates with other technical personnel in solving technical problems, fabricating equipment, gathering information, formulating plans, designs, cost estimates and specifications.

  • May assist drafters in developing the structural design of products, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design and drafting equipment and software.

  • Conducts research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of equipment, components, and systems.

  • Recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system failures.

  • Provides assistance to higher level engineers in most of the detail work and translates technical guidance and data received into usable information applicable to the particular assignment.

  • Assists in compiling and preparing comprehensive technical reports and proposals.

  • May participate as a team member of multiple teams; may act as primary intra-organizational liaison.

  • Provides configuration management and control of designed systems.

  • Directs the work of lower-level technical personnel, as required.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Applied Science with related experience.

  • Experience directly related to engineering or applied science may be substituted in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Must have or be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

  • Experience developing system designs with AUTOCAD 3D.
