Jacobs Engineering Designer 1 in Severn, Maryland

Your Impact:

  • Works in close collaboration with engineers and designers to prepare a wide variety of manufacturing layout drawings, electrical drawings, schematics, illustrations, and other type drawings required for technical documentation.

  • Makes a variety of studies and analyses in connection with tolerance, materials, structure, and similar considerations.

  • Prepares estimates of drafting time for layout and detailed work.

  • Completes drawings in AUTOCAD based upon familiarity with the construction and functions of equipment and utilizing knowledge of electronic circuits, controls, and components.

  • Directs and checks work of lower-level draftsman.

  • Uses a broad knowledge of mechanical and electrical devices, engineering mathematics, manufacturing methods and related drafting practices to develop equipment and accessory construction drawings within established dimensional and weight limits.

  • From instructions, blueprints, photographs, equipment, sketches, and related source materials, develops wiring schematics, pictorial, isometric or true perspective drawings, exploded views, etc. to adequately illustrate equipment and component parts, units, and assemblies for purposes of maintenance, repair, overhaul, and operational instructions and for identifying replacements parts, and sub-assemblies.

  • May be required to make other types of drawings and simulated photographic illustrations, as required.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • College (or equivalent) training in Graphic Arts, Industrial Design or Engineering Design with progressive related experience in engineering design and drafting.

  • Must have or can obtain a Secret clearance.
