Jamestown Sklallam Tribe Laborer in Sequim, Washington

Jamestown Excavating, the leading excavation team on the Peninsula, is looking for motivated Laborers to join us. This is a dynamic position where you'll be an integral part of bringing residential and commercial projects to life. Duties include but are not limited to, site preparation and measuring, digging, staking, loading/unloading of tools or materials, and installation of traffic control devices.

This is a full-time position working 4, 10-hour shifts.

As a Laborer, you will:

  • Perform a variety of labor tasks including but not limited to, digging trenches, grouting manholes and inlets, providing tophand support to pipelayers, shoveling and compacting rock and dirt, surveying layout staking, tree and debris removal, and the breaking and moving of concrete rubble, etc

  • Mix and pump concrete, grout, cement, sand, or plaster

  • Operate small hand-held power tools

  • Install traffic control devices, clear and prepare highway work zones, when applicable

  • May operate small equipment including bobcat, tractor or roller

  • Communicate clear instructions and prompt hand signals to equipment operators

  • Assist in grading and staking for site preparation

  • Follow both written and verbal instruction given by project leads

  • Assist supervisors and operators on excavating projects

  • Comply with Federal, state and local regulations, including the appropriate use of PPE

What are the Required Qualifications for this position?

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Effective time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently

  • Effective written and verbal communication, must be able to speak clearly

  • Ability to travel including but not limited to jobsites, quarries, suppliers

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Must be able to successfully pass criminal background investigation

What are the Preferred Qualifications for this position?

  • Basic excavation knowledge

  • Survey interpretation and survey layout

  • Pipelaying experience

  • Measuring and laying-out grades

  • American Indian/Alaska Native preferences apply
