Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Scheduling and Training Supervisor, located at our Sebewaing Factory.

Job Summary:

The Scheduling and Training Supervisor is responsible for the onboarding, training, and development of all positions within the manufacturing facility. This individual will provide administrative support to managers and employees, assisting in day-to-day activities, scheduling, managing employee records, and handling our onboarding and offboarding processes. This individual must be able to develop and conduct training required for new and existing employees with respect to general compliance, work methods, procedures, and task related activities. Will be required to facilitate plant wide programs such as new employee orientation.

The Scheduling and Training Supervisor is responsible for supporting safety, environmental, quality, feed, and food safety programs in addition to hourly employee management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all employees, contracted personnel and visitors comply with regulatory and company requirements for personal and facility safety.
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Maintain employee database and schedule staffing for day-to-day operations and vacation coverage.
  • Builds relationships, works closely with our Union workforce, and has a working knowledge of the contract.
  • Develop technical and procedural training programs to ensure site employees possess skills necessary to effectively perform job duties.
  • Perform on the job evaluation of operations level employees and instruct on methods to optimize factory performance.
  • Work with departments to ensure training records are up to date and compliant with regulations.
  • Plan, develop, and facilitate training using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as instructor led training, blended learning, social learning, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Report training status metrics, as required.
  • Review and or develop proficiency / qualification testing of key facets for the site.
  • Help to determine overall effectiveness of programs and make suggestions for improvements.
  • Review shift production data to identify training opportunities. Work cross functionally to develop and deliver training that will improve factory performance.
  • Support and provide visibility to the annual factory operations budget. Follow-up on process materials, chemicals, and supplies usage. Communication of results and opportunities.
  • Leverage / benchmark best practices.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science technical degree (Chemistry, Engineering, Industrial).

Alternatively extensive industrial experience of 5+ years with progressive supervisory or management responsibilities.

Minimum of 5 years of training experience is preferred.

Training or relevant exposure in supervision skills, quality assurance systems, environmental and safety regulations.

A proven record of developing and implementing training materials with proficiency measurements. Experience with Adult Learning theory, styles, and methodologies. Experience with training software is preferred.

Effective written & oral communication skills, solid computer skills including the use of word & power point.
