Overview The Technical Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing the technical operations and maintenance and repair of vessels. The Technical Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that all vessels are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Manage and coordinate the technical, engineering support functions of assigned vessels, including maintenance, repairs, inspections, and dry-docking activities. Develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules to ensure optimal performance and reliability of vessel systems and equipment. Monitor and evaluate vessel performance data, including fuel consumption, machinery condition, and operational efficiency, and take proactive measures to address any issues or deficiencies. Liaise with internal stakeholders, including vessel crews, shore-based personnel, and senior management, to communicate technical requirements, address operational challenges, and ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to procure necessary supplies, services, and inspections. Attend assigned vessels periodically, with other operational support teams to monitor vessel and crew performance. Provide technical guidance and support to vessel crews and engineering staff, including training, troubleshooting assistance, and performance coaching. Stay informed about industry developments, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to vessel operations and maintenance, and recommend strategies for continuous improvement and optimization. Participate in emergency response and incident management activities as required, including coordinating with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure effective resolution of technical issues or emergencies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in marine engineering, naval architecture, or related field; master mariner or chief engineer license preferred. 10 years in an engineering related field, including seagoing experience, may be substituted in lieu of the educational requirements. Minimum of 5 years of experience in marine technical operations, including hands-on experience with vessel maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to vessel operations and maintenance. Excellent communication, leadership, project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence. Proficiency in relevant software applications, including MS office suite and technical management systems.
