Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the non-profit industry, based in Seattle, Washington. The primary function of this role involves overseeing the proper recording of expenses for grants, collaborating with program managers and senior accounting staff, and maintaining current knowledge of compliance requirements for contract revenue sources.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the proper recording of expenses for grants from various sources including private donors, city, state, and federal government

• Work closely with program managers to ensure completeness of documentation, accuracy of coding and allocations, and allowability of cost per contract and grant requirements

• Review revenue to establish proper recording of donations and document monthly accruals for contract revenue

• Collaborate with program managers and senior accounting staff on documentation for fiscal audits

• Assist program managers with the creation and management of annual budgets

• Review program budgets and proposals for new funding sources as needed

• Maintain updated knowledge of federal, state, and local compliance requirements for contract revenue sources

• Monitor collections of outstanding receivables by contract source

• Assist managers in documentation collection and retention of fiscal backup for invoicing

• Review and assist in the implementation of process improvements around contract revenue.

The pay range for this role is $28.00 to $31.00 per hour.

Requirements • Applicant should possess skills in Grant Accounting, with a focus on non-profit entities.

• Experience in Billing and Invoice management is required.

• A strong background in Audit - Financial, including both internal and external audits.

• Proficiency in Budgeting, including creating, maintaining, and adjusting budgets.

• Familiarity with Compliance regulations and standards in the non-profit sector.

• Experience in Collections management, particularly in the context of non-profit organizations.

• Demonstrated ability in Process Improvement, including identifying and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

• Knowledge of the non-profit industry and its unique challenges and opportunities is desirable.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills are required.

• Ability to work independently and take initiative.

• Proficiency in using technology, including accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.

• Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, etc.) is desirable.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the non-profit sector.
