Job Information

Amazon Sr. Technical Writer, Resilience Infrastructure and Solutions in Seattle, Washington

Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Do you have the technical documentation background and the passion for producing great content, to support Amazon as the premier player in cloud computing and web services technology? In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to work with a stellar technical team to support UI work and produce product documentation in a cross-functional, distributed environment.

Amazon Application Recovery Controller (ARC), an AWS service focused on resilience and reliable failover for AWS applications, is looking for a Technical Writer to capably and efficiently produce high-quality technical publications for the service. The ARC team supports customers in preparing for and completing quick, safe recovery from disruptive events for applications running on AWS. By deeply understanding customer needs and innovating to provide efficient, highly-reliable services, ARC helps to make sure that customer business applications continue to seamlessly serve clients, even during a disaster event.

Amazon ARC is deeply committed to being a leader in the resilience space, and a key factor in meeting its goals is to provide outstanding documentation to support customers that use the service. To enable this, the technical writer on the team creates a variety of content for customers, including a developer guide, API reference guides, in-console help panels, and more. Technical documentation plays a vital role in clearly describing ARC technologies and solutions so that customers quickly grasp concepts and capabilities in the service, and gain the confidence to get started.

The ideal candidates for this role have a strong technical background that enables them to easily interact with software developers, and a demonstrated ability to be self-directed in delivering high-quality technical publications in a fast-paced, agile environment.

We have a formal mentor program so you can find a mentor that works best for you, based on factors such as location, job family, and job level. In addition to formal mentors, we work and train together so that we are always learning from one another, and we celebrate and support the career progression of our team members.

Here at AWS, we embrace and learn from our similarities as well as our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion, and we welcome teammates from an array of backgrounds and life experiences. We offer the opportunity to belong, connect, and contribute as members of a growing number of active affinity groups and employee resource groups. We host annual and ongoing learning experiences that cover a variety of inclusion and diversity issues, such as our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences.

This position is open to candidates in Seattle.

Key job responsibilities

  • Independently follow designs and standards to develop and deliver documentation for AWS products

  • Write and edit API documentation

  • Conduct technical reviews, and peer edits for grammar, style, and form. You'll also work with a professional technical editor dedicated to your content.

  • Work with the engineering team and support technicians to improve the documentation based on customer feedback and experiences.
