Key job responsibilities

Amazon Devices – the team behind the best-selling Amazon Echo, Alexa, Kindle E-reader, Fire Tablet, Fire TV, Cloud Cam and Smart electronics product lines—is seeking a seasoned Technical Program Manager to join the Amazon Devices Demand Planning Product team to drive innovation, scale, and efficiency across our global Pricing, Forecasting and Promotion initiatives.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will work with cross functional teams to innovate how we implement worldwide Devices Pricing and Promotions strategies. You will coordinate processes across supply management, marketing (traffic analysis, merchandising), finance (quarterly guidance), data science, and engineering to deliver hands-off-the-wheel automation at scale, and execute fully automated promotion plans. Within the team, you will collaborate with Marketing Managers, Product Managers, UX Designers, other Technical Program Managers, and Data Scientists, Applied Scientists and Engineers to deep dive into pain points and business opportunities to better serve our customers.

The successful candidate will have strong project management skills and excel at relationship building. This individual will have a proven track record forging, developing and fostering partnerships, deliver measurable results, possess the ability to complete high volume tasks and projects quickly, and have great attention to detail and organization skills.

A day in the life

• As the expert in pricing and promotions you will assist Devices Sales teams execute high impact events, innovate new deals, maintain pricing accuracy, and increase efficiency.

• Deep-diving current processes to identify opportunity for improvement and more unified approach.

• Develop set standards for communication and change management.

• Remove and communicate blockers to project completion

• Exercise the ability to think strategically and execute methodically

• Partner with WW Product Line Sales and Marketing teams, operational support, Finance, legal and other Devices teams to learn best practices and expand professional and technical knowledge.

•Provide business and technical requirements to tech teams owning the systems used by Devices business.

• Communicate data insights to stakeholders on a regularly cadence, including owning business updates to senior leadership: PRFAQ, BRD, MBR and roadmap updates.

• Review and challenge data to make data driven decision with sound business judgment.

Our team is helping to integrate the perfect combination of Amazon devices and services into every home in the world. Devices Pricing is specifically accountable for designing systems, workflows, and processes that help us plan and execute device marketing initiatives. We build the tools that support pricing, forecasts, promotions, and merchandising.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

    • Bachelor's degree with a technical discipline or equivalent experience
    • Experience defining projects, collecting requirements, writing detailed functional and test specifications, coordinating efforts to scope, schedule, and deploy new features sets
    • Experience analyzing cost/benefit of feature selection
    • Familiarity with SW development processes and milestones, including waterfall and agile methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

    • Master's degree or advanced technical degree
    • Creative leader with superior analytical abilities
    • Product development (including C++, Java, messaging protocols, and Web Services), and service-oriented architecture experience
    • Experience with hardware and software development process and lifecycle
    • High degree of comfort presenting to senior management, business stakeholders, and external partners

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
