Description

AWS Infrastructure Systems (AIS) encompasses AWS Data Center Planning, Delivery, Operations and Engineering, Network Services, Infrastructure Software and Hardware, and Infrastructure Supply Chain and Procurement Planning. At AIS, we are responsible for the global enablement and capacity delivery of server, network, and data center infrastructure as well as day-to-day operations and security for AWS data centers globally. We also support capacity delivery of AWS Edge Devices, and their install and post install maintenance worldwide.

We are looking for a high caliber Sr Infrastructure Technical Program Manager who enjoys working on challenging and high impact problems. You have a passion for bridging the gap between business and technology, and love getting your hands dirty in the technical details of our business. Technical skills and analytical talent, leadership skills, emotional intelligence, high judgment, negotiation skills and ability to influence others are essential for success in this role. Most of the programs you will be leading are still in the startup mode, as we are innovating and building our vision in a fast paced environment to deliver an unparalleled customer experience, while also driving our ability to scale. You would be joining a team of experienced TIPMs helping to build our new products, systems and services, and to enhance and scale our existing ones.

The right candidate will possess strong technical program management skills, and have already demonstrated leading medium to large scale software and system development programs. As a TIPM, you will bring your relevant experience, superior judgement, great detail tracking, and strong problem-solving and communications skills to anticipate bottlenecks/tradeoffs, provide escalation management and balance business needs against technical constraints.

You’re a good fit if you:

• Can dive deep into technical details to translate high-level business requirements into working solutions and ask engineers astute questions on programs that you own

• Are able to recommend and compare alternative technical and business approaches

• Have a good understanding of system interactions and information/data flows

• Think big, see the big picture and can break it down to actionable goals and deliverables

• Can coordinate across many functional areas in order to deliver a large, complex program by anticipating blockers and making tradeoffs when there are competing priorities, and define product and program roadmaps

You would:

• Work closely with stakeholders across various teams in AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) to 1/build core mechanisms and systems to support launch of new AWS products and/or services, 2/scale existing AWS products and/or services and 3/lead process improvement initiatives in support of capacity planning, supply chain and operations teams

• Build strong relationships with partner organizations including HW, SW, Supply Chain, Ops, Accounting/Tax/Finance, Security and Legal etc. Work with the stakeholders cross teams to collect the system requirements, and clearly communicate and discuss their priorities with the development team

• Define projects (scope, schedule, and budget), provide business case and ROI, set objectives and influence resource allocation

• Define the project plan and clearly communicate status, risk and any required mitigations to maintain program timelines and commitments

• Lead development and launch activities cross business and development teams throughout scoping, design and development, testing, deployment and post deployment maintenance of the final product

• Enable effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple data sources and compiling it into a digestible and actionable format to share with the team members

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to monitor KPIs post system launches in production

• Prepare and deliver regular business reviews to the senior management team regarding program goals and desired outcome, and clearly and concisely communicate program status, team progress and roadblocks

• Perform ad hoc deep dive analysis as needed to develop recommendations and impact the decision-making of leadership team

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 6+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 6+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
