Amazon Sr. Software Development Engineer, Alexa Connected Devices in Seattle, Washington

Description

It’s truly Day 1 for our team in Alexa. This is your opportunity to build LLM-based experiences for Alexa On-the-go devices. You’ll be an integral part of the team building new customer experiences using Android, iOS and AWS.

You’ll help design the overall architecture, own large chunks of design and development work for various components, and establish the technology processes and practices that will lay the groundwork for the organization as it grows.

Key job responsibilities

We’re looking for software developers that thrive when presented with complex new challenges and can serve as strong mentors for other engineers as the team grows. This is your chance to think big, fail fast, learn even faster, and iterate quickly to launch.

As a software developer you can expect to:

  • Deal with ambiguity in solving a complex problem space that has not been tackled at this scale before.

  • Work with other engineering teams who are aligned towards the same goal with many opportunities for cross-team influence, architecture, and collaboration.

  • Build a customer facing product from the ground up and deliver it to market quickly.

  • Be a key contributor in setting the teams technical direction, best practices, and plan for the years ahead

  • Build the infrastructure and platform of services leveraging AWS Lambda, Fargate, DDB, etc.

  • Contribute code to Alexa App using either native Android or iOS technologies (preferred).

About the team

The Alexa On-the-Go Experiences team is responsible to build software experiences for Alexa On-the-go devices. Team is responsible to contribute code to Alexa App by developing native Android and iOS components and using AWS to build new APIs

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Bellevue, WA, USA | Seattle, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 4+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 4+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • 4+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience

  • 4+ years industry experience building large scale software applications. In-depth understanding of Computer Science fundamentals in object oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
