The production support engineering team is the interface between manufacturing and design. The team works across the engineering programs throughout the lifecycle of the product by assessing manufacturability, non-conformance trends, key characteristics, and support engineering changes for the build process. The responsibilities of the Production Support Engineering Team are (but not limited to): Support the manufacturing floor in assembly and installation, ensuring compliance to engineering requirements, discrepancy resolution, and component acceptance testing. Perform in a hands-on engineering and liaison role between design, test, operations, and manufacturing customers. Disposition and investigate root cause of discrepancies; take ownership of implementation of preventative/corrective actions. Support design definition and provides feedback on design to improve manufacturability. Make recommendations to improve quality, simplify operations and reduce cost. Support the product through design and operational gated reviews by evaluating and aiding in the development of required artifacts Provide feedback to design to reduce product cost and ensuring provisions that support manufacturing are incorporated Design support for test and manufacturing issues Work with manufacturing and M&P to develop technical process specifications to support the build process Support ME's with manufacturing demonstrators and process capability analysis Support vendor selection and provides guidance during the manufacturing of products as required to ensure ongoing production quality and conformance Address vendor technical issues per request from Supply Chain and RE Support make/buy activities as requested Structural Responsibilities: Provide technical expertise on designing for the manufacturing capabilities of the industry and Blue. Disposition repair and rework of wide variety of aerospace structure, including welded aluminum and composite. Fluids Systems Responsibilities: Provide technical expertise on the pneumatics and cryogenic propellant subsystems of the vehicle and related ground support equipment (GSE). Mechanical/Actuated or Fluids Systems Responsibilities: Provide technical expertise on either the pneumatics/cryogenic propellant or hydraulics/mechanical subsystems of the vehicle and related ground support equipment (GSE). Avionics Responsibilities: Diagnose and provide resolution for issues related to avionics hardware, software, or firmware. General Qualifications: 5+ years of professional engineering experience Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical/electrical/aerospace engineering or equivalent experience. Experience in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and incorporating into design Experience in moving product from design development into manufacturing and production Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the product lifecycle.
