Starbucks sr. manager, product strategy - Store Operations Analytics and Platforms (Hybrid) in Seattle, Washington

Now Brewing – senior manager, product strategy – Store Operations Analytics and Platforms

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

The senior manager, product strategy leads a team and owns and drives the vision, multi-year product portfolio strategy, and analytics across the global network of physical stores with dedicated focus on one domain of the lifecycle (plan, design + build, operate, or maintain). Critical to the success of this role is the ability to work backwards from the customer and champion their success – own the customer relationship, articulate a compelling product narrative with a prioritized set of product requirements and measurable success metrics, and drive alignment for delivery with cross-functional stakeholders.

This is the perfect role for a leader who has experience driving change and developing new ways of working from strategic transformation, technology strategy, product management, and complex, cross-functional initiatives.

As a product manager principal, you will:

• Lead and influence with vision: direct the team and cross-functional partners, articulate it in a simple and compelling narrative, define the product roadmap with requirements, and drive alignment with cross-functional stakeholders.

• Be customer driven: work backwards from the customer, understand their problems and user journeys, and actively champion their success.

• Prioritize for impact: understand what success looks like, define it, measure it, and deliver on it. Adapt with strategic priorities, company business goals, and desired outcomes.

• Simplify and innovate: reduce complexity of the solutions and systems supporting our customers while pushing for innovation through experimentation of new data sets and capabilities.

• Launch and iterate: launch solutions and learn, then do it again -- iteratively deliver value by working through the entire product development lifecycle.

• Collaborate and communicate: bring cross-functional teams (business SMEs, software engineers, data scientists, architects, designers, vendors, etc.) along with you on the journey through collaboration and clear communication.

We’d love to hear from people with 7-10 years experience :

• Proven people leadership and career development

• Progressive experience in product management, design-thinking, management consulting, and / or corporate strategy leading transformation programs and projects

• Passion for strategy development, workforce innovation, and future vision development

• Industry experience in a technology environment with a record of successfully delivering complex products

• Hands-on experience in developing roadmaps, business cases, priorities, features, story outlines, user stories, product backlogs, and coordinating/prioritizing conflicting requirements in a fast-paced, changing environment with variety of stakeholders

• Demonstrated ability to use analytics and optimization tools to inform product planning and prioritization

• Experience working with design and engineering to deliver customer-facing features

• Ability to apply knowledge of program and project execution in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment, leading and influencing others

• Skills in systems thinking, seeking to understand the interconnectedness of the organizational system with the ability to select the optimal levers to drive desired outcome(s)

• Strong verbal and written communications skills

Preferred Qualifications: • Masters / MBA preferred

• 3-years of experience coaching and mentoring other team members

• Detail and results-oriented, able to analyze data to justify product decisions and apply key learnings

• Ability to influence others without authority to get things done in a timely fashion
