The Role Moderna is expanding our team in Seattle to further our mission of delivering the greatest possible impact to people through mRNA medicines! Our new technology hub in Seattle focuses on software product development for our Commercial, Data & Machine Learning, Cloud Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering Excellence (dev tools) products and platforms. We are looking to hire a Software Development Engineers (SDEs) to develop their careers at Moderna, who bring strong technical expertise, a product mindset that embodies the unique Moderna Mindsets, and passion to change the future of medicine. In this role, you will work on exciting, cutting-edge technology initiatives/products from the ground up to empower our technology roadmap across the organization, with the ultimate goal of transforming patients' lives. Here's What We Do: * We write code to create, improve and maintain new and existing frameworks * We familiarize ourselves with source code to understand areas of risk and complexity to provide optimal test coverage * We make key decisions for framework architectures and practices * We develop an understanding of the business and customer value of the assigned software * We function with regular checkpoints including code reviews and daily standup * We deliver code successfully with clear instructions from our teammates and manager * We communicate effectively with our teammates about timelines to deliver our work efficiently and reliability * We successfully collaborate with team members using best-in-industry software engineering tools and processes such as source control and monitoring frameworks * We understand how to separate disparate components from each other and seek guidance from teammates or your manager when building software with more than one component * We understand common tradeoffs among aspects of the code bar such as efficiency versus maintainability * We follow an established procedure to diagnose and identify the root cause of problems with exiting software * We mentor junior engineers * We'll do all this while nurturing good work-life balance: we want to work together for a long time Here's What You'll Need (Minimum Qualifications): * Recent graduate (or Senior) in a Bachelor's program in Computer Science or a related technology or scientific field OR equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree * Educational or job-related experience with full-stack web application development. Our stack is oriented around React + node and Angular, experience with this or willingness to learn is essential. * Educational or job-related experience with Object Oriented Programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or C. * Educational or job-related experience documenting technical systems and user workflows Here's What You'll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications): * Experience communicating with application users to understand and collect their requirements and requests * Experience working in life sciences, pharma/biotech, or high-tech industries with a preference for experience in one or more of eCommerce, data/machine learning platforms, or cloud infrastructure * Experience in a regulated environment * A desire to make an impact as part of a high-growth, transformational company that is Bold, Relentless, Curious, and Collaborative * Collaboration.
