Amazon Senior UX Program Manager , Alexa UX in Seattle, Washington

Description

The Alexa UX team is seeking a self-motivated, ownership-minded, and nimble Senior UX Program Manager to be a force-multiplier for UX Design & Research, amplifying our efforts and impact. The person in this role serves as the first point of contact for UX planning/roadmapping and vision-setting. The ideal candidate will exhibit leadership, high judgment, the ability to influence, and exceptional organization and communication skills.

This role will provide program management leadership and operational support throughout our design organization and across multiple partner teams by increasing communication and connection points, streamlining the design process, and driving design excellence. You will collaborate closely with designers, researchers, engineers, product managers, and other cross functional partners to lead projects throughout the planning, design, and development cycle. In this role, you’ll combine expert program management skills with a passion for user experience to help your team improve the designs of Amazon’s AI assistant used by millions of customers. You’ll work cross-functionally and collaborate with design leadership, designers, product, and engineering teams to plan projects, define milestones, assess risks, and help projects meet deadlines. You will also manage communications to team members, executives and other stakeholders. You are a master planner and a flexible leader who can balance multiple programs in a creative design environment.

Key job responsibilities

  • Partner with UX leadership in key project decision-making, including: requirements gathering, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination of teams and reviews

  • Drive team operations to support org health, including: strategic planning, up-leveling team member training and knowledge share, workflow and processes, and collaboration approaches

  • Act as a bridge between UX, Engineering, and Product Management (PM) teams, connecting all three groups and making sure interdependencies are understood and planned for

  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints

  • Implement repeatable processes and tools to help us scale, prioritize, plan and manage multiple parallel projects across the team and our stakeholders

  • Support design delivery by driving team backlogs and removing obstacles, coordinating reviews with stakeholders and leadership, communicating team status, and empowering designers to own their timelines

  • Create, maintain, and disseminate project information to stakeholders and senior management

  • Work across teams to create strong relationships with stakeholders and senior leadership teams

  • Promote a sense of transparency, visibility, and community among our team

About the team

The Alexa UX team is at the forefront of creating innovative new Alexa experiences with generative AI technologies on Echo devices with screens, mobile apps (Alexa App), Fire TV, tablet and other devices.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+years in UX Project/Program Management or combination of Sr UX Design and Design Ops experience

  • Demonstrable history of influencing cross-functional stakeholders, partners, and senior executives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies (agile to waterfall)

  • Experience working and contributing to project playbooks, building schedules, managing issues/risks, establishing communication plans and stakeholder management

  • Understanding of UX design and software development

  • Excellent communications and coordination skills, applied in a fast-paced environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $192,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
