This role is a part of New Shepard, a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line, the internationally recognized boundary of space. As a Sr. Manger of Embedded Avionics Software Engineering, you will be responsible for leading teams of experts in developing flight software that enables human-rated spaceflight aboard New Shepard. You are a strong technical leader, and an enabler for fast decision making and change. This role requires you to be comfortable with taking ownership of complex projects. This functionally leads the development of boost, crew capsule, and ground software from the creation of software specifications, through software qualification campaigns and certification. Minimum Qualifications: BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field 6+ years in avionics software or similar field C/C++, Python, Linux, Jira, Git experience Experience with integration of systems with real-time hardware-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop frameworks, or a combination of both Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Experience working with and leading multi-functional teams in a diverse work environment Outstanding organizational and time management skills Critical thinker with innovative problem-solving skills Self-starter with strategic and creative mentality Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
