Description

Amazon is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Corporate Business Development (CorpBD) group as a Senior Manager, focused on the payments, fintech, and lending space. This is a unique opportunity to join a centralized team that manages strategic partnerships across all Amazon businesses. You will be responsible for generating, managing, and executing some of Amazon’s most complex and high impact strategic partnership activities. This includes creating deals which are unconventional in nature, need a centralized advocate, and have broader implications to Amazon. You will interact with senior leaders across several of Amazon’s businesses.

This key role will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Amazon. You will need to work collaboratively with internal management teams to understand where our relative advantages or risks lie, when major features in existing roadmaps are set to launch, and current trends around innovation, consolidation and customer adoption. We dive deep and provide thoughtful technical analysis, but are adaptable and action-oriented, focused on quickly gaining enough context to enable informed decision-making. Identifying and executing strategic partnerships is our primary objective.

We are seeking an innovative, creative, analytical, technical and strategic thinker who is passionate about Amazon’s growth in the payments, fintech, and lending space. The ideal candidate is an independent thinker who enjoys designing strategies, solving complex problems, works effectively with senior cross-functional teams and thrives in a fast-paced setting that is constantly evolving. CorpBD is a small, tight-knit team who values authentic, strong willed individuals that think creatively and will proactively seek out opportunities to advance the growth initiatives of Amazon’s businesses.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop transformative commercial strategies that drive significant business impact, ranging from reducing the cost of financial transactions to expanding Amazon’s international footprint.

  • Take the lead to identify, evaluate, negotiate and manage complex and high-profile partnerships and marketing deals that enable new and valuable customer experiences in payments, fintech, and lending.

  • Remove barriers and create ease for customer transactions.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to executives running both online and physical businesses at Amazon.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in strategic business development, product management, investment banking, or venture investing.

  • Experience in payments, fintech, and lending innovation.

  • End-to-end deal experience, including identifying, developing, and executing successful partnerships such as large-scale marketing deals, technical collaborations, complex digital media transactions, and strategic technology relationships.

  • Experience with global and emerging markets.

  • Experience leading cross-functional groups to orchestrate and successfully complete deals.

  • Ability to manage and recommend strategic investment decisions.

  • History of proven success at high level negotiations.

  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze income, balance sheet and cash flow statements. Can construct an operating P&L, model deals, and articulate cost/benefit analyses.

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves. Able to dive deep on a business in a short time frame

  • A proven leader of teams with a history of attracting and retaining top talent. multiple industries and their intersection with commerce.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $147,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
