Amazon Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, Amazon in Seattle, Washington

Description

Amazon seeks an exceptional Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to join our Advertising Finance team. The role will be a key partner to Amazon’s Advertising business, a high-growth business with a range of products offerings for advertisers. This role will focus on developing data infrastructure, defining metrics, and generating actionable product insights across established ad products Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display, and a newly launched product - Sponsored TV, with worldwide scope. We’re looking for a top analytical mind capable of understanding our ecosystem of advertisers and shoppers, and leveraging this knowledge to help turn the flywheel of the business.

As a key analytics partner, you will work on one of the world's largest consumer and advertising data sets, as well as influence the long-term evolution of our products and the way they fit in Amazon's ecosystem. You will identify win-win opportunities for shoppers, advertisers and Amazon, driving engagement and monetization in both on-Amazon and off-Amazon setting. This role requires an individual with excellent business, communication, and technical skills, enabling collaboration with various functions, including economists and other finance leaders, product managers, software engineers, data scientists, as well as senior leadership.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, able to connect business and data well, with strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy and ever-changing environment. The drive and capability to shape the business and technical strategy and decisions is a must.

The role involves translating business problems into specific analytics projects, conducting deep quantitative analyses, and communicating results effectively. This role will also own defining and developing new metrics, data pipelines to report them, and share business and technical requirements with Engineering teams. We see a high potential for influence and growth in this role as we continue to fuel the growth of this business. The role will help the organization identify, evaluate, and evangelize new techniques and tools to continue to improve our ability to deliver value to Amazon’s customers.

This role is flexible for hiring in New York and Seattle.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

  • 5+ years of SQL experience

  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
