The Department of Medicine, Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Study Assistant (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv). This position will be involved in providing varied support functions for several ongoing industry and local studies in adults for the Diabetes clinical Research group within the Diabetes Institute.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interact with study subjects through reminder calls or scheduling. Provide appropriate information to research subjects for upcoming study visits. Maintain and follow study logs to track when visits and data collection events are due.

  • Manage study lead-in activities per protocol including mailing necessary supplies to participants, tracking needs and completion of study participant tasks and communicating with study participants as necessary.

  • Coordinate processing/collection/storage/transport of biological samples.

  • Assist in study visit activities including preparing all necessary materials, preparing study meals per protocol, administering questionnaires and evaluations, processing biological specimens, and other tasks as needed (including in-person contact with research subjects and other study staff).

  • Assist in the recruitment of research participants using approved methodologies such as posting flyers, visiting clinics, and utilizing a registry of research participant

  • Enter data accurately into electronic databases.

  • Assist in performing office-related duties such as answering phones, picking up and delivering mail, storing and distributing supplies, handling faxes, scanning, filing, collating materials, and maintaining policy manuals.

  • Participate in staff meetings and training.

  • Other duties as required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area AND one year of appropriate experience OR equivalent education/experience. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be willing to work with and understand electronic data capture systems including Medidata, InForm, and other data collection system.

  • Be willing to work with and use diabetes device software to facilitate study visits and data collection including: Tidepool, Medtronic Carelink, Glucofacts, My Glucohealth, Dexcom Studio and My HealthPoint.

  • Have some experience with managing research supplies to ensure adequate availability for study operations. Use electronic inventory systems provided by study sponsors including Covance, JAEB, and ICON is a plus.

  • Be willing to learn collection, processing, packaging, and shipping study samples using lab and study equipment in the first month.

  • Phlebotomy experience a plus.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills and the ability to work with a team.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Detail-oriented, pro-active and flexible.
