WORK SCHEDULE:

  • 40 hours per week

  • Monday - Friday

  • Day shifts only

  • No call responsibilities

  • Support an innovative, state-of-the-art program in a developing field DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Garvey Institute Center for Neuromodulation provides outpatient, evidence-based Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) services for adult patients with major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, catatonia, and schizophrenia. Clinical staff will regularly work with patients under anesthesia and will provide support before, during, and after the ECT and TMS procedures. ABOUT THE CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND LEARNING The new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning , opening on the UW Medical Center – Northwest campus in 2024, offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental health care training in our state. Located in NW Seattle, the new facility will feature 75 longer-term adult psychiatry beds, 25 geriatric psychiatry beds, 50 medical/surgical beds focused on patients with psychiatric comorbidities, and a state-of-the-art neuromodulation program. It will also house an interdisciplinary training and workforce development program focused on preparing and supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for Washington State. The six-story building will be a beautiful place to work with lots of windows, natural lighting and open-concept spaces and will offer amenities including a new kitchen and dining area for patients, staff and visitors.Learn more about the Center for Behavioral Health and Learning here.   • Provide nursing care to behavioral health patients receiving Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) under anesthesia

  • Provide nursing care to behavioral health patients receiving Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), which is a non-invasive procedure

  • Perform pre-admission intake assessments, including assessments of the patient's physical and psychological states

  • Call patients prior to their appointments with guidance on preparing for sedation

  • Monitor vital signs while patients are sedated

  • Help manage emergencies and complications while patients are sedated

  • Provide phase I and phase II anesthesia support

  • Prepare patients for discharge and home care

  • Promote efficient patient flow by assisting with phone triage and record keeping REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1 year of behavioral health, perioperative, ICU, or emergency department nursing experience

  • An active ACLS (required by start date)

  • An active BLS (required by state date)
