Principal Restoration Ecologist or Engineer Location: Seattle, Washington Job Type: Regular Full-Time What's the Opportunity? Anchor QEA is seeking a Principal-level, entrepreneurially minded professional to help expand the presence of our Environmental Restoration Practice to better capture growing opportunities in the Northwest region. We are particularly interested in an individual who has experience in identifying, planning, designing and implementing habitat and ecological restoration projects and programs. The successful candidate will be a driving force behind the growth of Anchor QEA and will help to build, oversee, and mentor project teams. They will be responsible for developing new clients, winning and executing habitat and ecological restoration projects, and growing our experience with federal, state, and local clients. Responsibilities The successful applicant will have had previous experience building a habitat and ecological restoration practice in collaboration with others and will be a driving force behind growing Anchor QEAs restoration practice in the Northwest region. They should have a previous track record of using their own creativity, experience, insight and entrepreneurial spirit to help find sustainable solutions to restore, enhance, and protect regional lands and waters. Core responsibilities include splitting time equally between project execution and business development: Project Execution Leading or providing strategic direction for comprehensive scope development, fee negotiations, project schedule and deliverable milestones development, technical and financial project management activities, client and stakeholder coordination, project implementation, and subcontractor administration Providing mentorship, technical oversight and quality reviews on restoration projects Identifying strategic teaming partners and actively building relationships, helping to identify and support staff resource and hiring needs Providing active mentorship and oversight of junior and mid level staff Business Development Helping to expand our existing habitat and ecological restoration practice that is well known and respected by clients and looked to for project completion and strategic advice Positioning for and winning multi-disciplinary projects and/or programs with a focus on sustainable habitat and ecological restoration solutions and climate resilience, either as part of a larger team or as the prime contractor Knowledge of existing and potential clients in the region, and ability to leverage existing relationships Developing new clients, identify project opportunities, lead proposal efforts, and capture new work What Are We Looking For? Ideal candidates will have the following: Proven ability to generate new business over their career and grow a habitat and ecological restoration practice in the environmental consulting field, with a focus on federal, state, and local clients Habitat (e.g., wetland, riparian buffers, rivers, streams) restoration design experience including river restoration, estuary and beach intertidal/backshore restoration, dam removal, compensatory mitigation, habitat/wetland banks, and general mitigation Strong leadership skills Bachelor's or Master's Degree (preferred) in Sciences, Civil Engineering (or equivalent), or restoration related field 10+ years of relevant experience in habitat and ecological restoration planning and/or design, project management, staff management, and sales with regional and national clients.
