Mott MacDonald Group Principal Engineer- Coastal in Seattle, Washington

We are currently hiring a principal coastal/marine engineer with 15+ years of experience to join our Seattleengineering team. Mott MacDonald is a full-service engineering company focused on the development and rehabilitation of port and harbor infrastructure, planning and development of renewable energy projects, and improving coastal resiliency of coastal/port infrastructure and habitats. Typical projects include port and marina infrastructure assessment and design, offshore wind enabling infrastructure project development, habitat/shoreline protection and stabilization, waterfront parks, and civil engineering. Working within the west coastal practice and alongside our established Ports, Coastal, and Offshore group, primary job responsibilities include: Collaborate with Ports, Coastal, and Offshore Market Lead to facilitate the successful identification and tracking of opportunities, and proposal development. With regional account leads Develop and execute market capture plans Develop and secure clients and opportunities In collaboration with Project Managers, lead in the development of scopes of work and proposals for our clients. Collaborate with multiple Project Principals, managers, and project engineers to execute projects, develop clients and opportunities, and mentor mid and junior level staff. Collaborate with Project Principals, managers and Subject Matter Experts both locally, and across the US. Lead direction of regional projects that may include: Analysis of coastal processes such as currents, waves, storm surge, sediment transport, and coastal/estuarine morphology and compound flooding. Concept, preliminary, and detailed design of coastal and/or marine structures. Civil engineering design, review of geotechnical assessments, hydraulics and hydrology, and other miscellaneous civil engineering tasks. Development of data collection plans for surveying, assessments, geotechnical exploration, and environmental data collection. Support projects across the USA, Canada, and Caribbean as coastal/marine subject matter expert. Drive and oversee performance baseline management (scope, budget, schedule) and work with sub-consultants and team members and assure quality control of work throughout project execution and delivery. Communicate effectively and interface with clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and other Mott MacDonald professionals across the US and Canada. Collaboration with Mott MacDonald practices across North America and abroad and contribute to the development of technical excellence Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Coastal, Civil, and/or Ocean Engineering or related field. 15+ years of engineering design experience. Demonstrated experience and success with the development of statements of qualifications and other procurement processes. Demonstrated technical and analytical skills, including technical writing and presentation skills. Experience with industry standard analysis and design software Experience with variety of client types, including state and federal government, and private entities. Experience in consulting engineering across entire lifecycle of project.
