Description

Amazon is seeking a highly-creative, self-motivated and high-judgment PR professional to join the team responsible for leading proactive consumer campaigns and cross-Amazon stories focused on seasonal and deal-themed shopping events. This role will be responsible for executing and driving breakthrough integrated marketing communications campaigns in the U.S, and will support relevant shopping moments across retail (e.g., seasonal sales (Big Spring Sale), Memorial Day, President’s Day) and transition seasonal events (e.g., Mother’s Day). The ideal candidate is able to work autonomously as well as cross-functionally; have experience managing executive stakeholders for multiple teams and/or PR agencies; a proven track record executing proactive consumer focused campaigns; experience in media relations, as well as developing PR strategies, executing experiential events, tracking industry trends and coverage and identifying timely opportunities. This individual should be a self-starter, creative, have an eye for details, and enjoy wrangling multiple people and projects. They will love pop culture, and continuously think of fun and strategic new ways to reach customers throughout the year. They'll display poise and sophistication in rapid-moving situations and become fast friends with a number of internal teams working on events at Amazon as well as with a cross-section of media.

Key job responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic public relations programs around seasonal retail shopping events and deal moments, such as Mother’s Day, Labor Day Sale, and other relevant promotions.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholder teams across communications, marketing, and advertising to create cohesive and impactful storytelling.

• Cultivate and leverage relationships with national and regional media outlets to generate accurate and positive coverage for deal moments and campaigns.

• Manage external PR agencies, providing strategic guidance and overseeing the execution of tactics.

• Work with external vendors and oversee the production of creative assets, such as promotional materials and multimedia content.

• Act as a spokesperson on behalf of the company.

• Deliver strategic communications counsel to executives on short and long-term challenges, opportunities, and best practices.

• Successfully manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges, both proactively and reactively.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of experience working in consumer PR.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ability to bring together a large team with competing priorities and lead them toward a common goal.

  • Crisis communications and issues management chops.

  • The ability to self-motivate and work autonomously at times.

  • Experience working with global teams or on international events.

  • Outstanding attention to detail and bias for action.

  • Standards so high most people would find them unreasonable.

  • Thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.

  • Strong judgment and ability to make decisions in real-time.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
