INSTITUTE FOR SYSTEMS Postdoctoral Fellow in SEATTLE, Washington

The Heath group seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow to work as part of an interdisciplinary team working on multiomic approaches towards understanding and treating cancers, infectious diseases, and chronic conditions. We are seeking applicants with diverse skillsets in technology development, computational modeling, and laboratory experimentation to develop innovative systems biology approaches for characterizing biospecimens collected from large cohorts of patients suffering from specific cancers or chronic conditions. Active projects in the laboratory are (1) focusing on unraveling the details of how immunological dysfunction can lead to chronic disease; (2) developing new spatial -omics methods for the analysis of tumor tissues, and using those analyses to interpret blood-based analytics; (3) executing a T cell receptor engineered cell therapy for the treatment of HPV-driven cancers; and (4) new single cell methods development. Suitable candidates will have the opportunity to participate and contribute to ongoing projects, and also pursue their own research interests. position offers unique national and international collaboration opportunities to translate basic science advances towards clinical diagnostics and therapeutics. Applicants must have (or soon be granted) a PhD, and successful candidates will have cross-disciplinary training in systems biology, bioengineering, immunology, computational biology, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates who have research experience, such as in the development of novel technologies, and the design and implementation of novel algorithms for systems analyses and modeling. Candidates with complementary experience in the wet lab are strongly encouraged to apply. Strong analytical skills, a track record demonstrating scientific creativity, excellent communication skills, and the potential to thrive in an interdisciplinary research environment are essential.
