Seattle Children's Postdoctoral Fellow - Smith Lab in Seattle, Washington

Responsibilities:

The SEPS lab (http://faculty.washington.edu/seps (https://urldefense.com/v3/__http:/faculty.washington.edu/seps__;!!NuzbfyPwt6ZyPHQ!sx-bQv_RizYlWBxM8_DafUCSwK5xi3dsONS2EuhhksBlsSAuLM9wuNBfVJA2bVU_3v32cz2XYrrRIAegvg3i$) ) at the Center for Integrative Brain Research, Seattle Children's Research Institute and the University of Washington invites applications for an R01-funded postdoctoral position focusing on CAR T cell signaling. Work in the SEPS lab focuses on signal transduction through protein-protein interaction networks, and employs a unique technology called Quantitative Multiplex co-Immunoprecipitation or QMI. Using QMI and molecular genetic techniques, the successful applicant will lead a project examining how specific protein interactions engaged by the CAR contribute to CAR T cell efficacy, and how patient-to-patient variability in protein levels may contribute to detrimental side effects.

The successful candidate will work closely with a technician and graduate/undergraduate students to plan and supervise several parallel lines of investigation, using primary human T cells or banked patient material from completed trials. The candidate will be expected to independently move projects forward, write papers, and apply for F32 or equivalent grants. The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform precise wetlab work and complex bioinformatics analyses using MatLab and R programming. Prior experience in immunology, molecular biology, and/or CAR T cell therapy is a plus. Creative, big-picture thinking and dedication academic research are essential.

The selected candidate will join the vibrant research community at CIBR, located on the newly renovated 8 th floor of the Jack MacDonald building in downtown Seattle. A modern, open lab space, a collegial atmosphere, on-site gym and rooftop garden, and top-of-the-line equipment, office space and meeting rooms make this an ideal training environment. Required Education/Experience:

  • Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in specialty area from an accredited university training program.

  • Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area.

Required Credentials:

Preferred:

  • Previous experience conducting research in the pediatric arena.

  • Experience in protocol and manuscript development and in grant writing.

Min to Max Hourly Salary: $31.48 - $47.39 /hr

Min to Max Annual Salary: $65,478.40 - $98,571.20 /yr

Salary Information:

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
