The position is ideal for individuals interested in building a career in the environmental consulting fields. The primary role for the successful candidate will be the operation, maintenance, monitoring and reporting for the Tacoma Area groundwater pump and treat remedial system (GWTP). The successful candidate may also support various other consulting and remedial construction activities such as compiling construction quality assurance (CQA) monitoring data; performing a variety of multi-media sampling efforts; overseeing environmental and remediation construction projects; and providing additional field and office support to geologists and engineers for a diverse private and public-sector client base. You will work on your own or as a part of a larger field support team on site-specific project tasks. The ability and willingness to work outdoors, perform extensive fieldwork, and travel for short periods of time, including overnights, weekends, and holidays (rare) is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Primary duties will be operation, maintenance, and monitoring (OM&M), and compliance reporting as an operator of the Tacoma GWTP and will include but not limited to: Operational responsibilities will include operation of two granular activated groundwater treatment systems via a desktop SCADA system and/or manual operation of pumps; Maintenance will include periodic change out of bag filters, general repair of system instrumentation and control systems to a limited extent as needed, general repair of building systems, building cleaning, site mowing, and snow removal; Monitoring will include permit and process sampling, assistance with site hydraulic and environmental sampling using various groundwater pumping methods, NAPL pumping, and periodic inspections; and Reporting will include assisting the project team with compliance reporting, budget review and development, and system improvements. Additional non-OM&M responsibilities may include: Collect field parameters and environmental samples for lab analysis for soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and air; Fieldwork such as drilling and contractor oversight, aquifer testing, and geophysical investigations; Monitor contractor activities on job sites to ensure compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g., H&S plans, technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans etc.); Provide CQA observation and monitoring on several types of construction and/or
