Blue Origin LLC Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer III - Ground Systems Development in Seattle, Washington

This role is a part of the Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to business units with a focus on the design, build, and maintenance of the ground systems, test, and launch facilities across multiple locations. As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will perform the design, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning of systems associated with space vehicle launch and test facilities. Typical systems include high pressure gas and cryogenic fluid systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Design launch pad, test stand and other facility piping systems supporting cryogenic and gaseous pneumatic systems Perform fluid and structural analysis of new or modified designs Select components and collaborate on system safety and process hazards analysis Guide creation of models and drawings of designs Perform system and component level analyses and document results Draft and review specifications and statements of work Draft and review operational procedures Coordinate with suppliers on costs, schedule, and technical design requirements Oversee fabrication, installation, and commissioning of new or modified fluid systems Provide input on cost, schedule and technical requirements to internal customers Occasional travel may be necessary Minimum Qualifications Batchelor's aerospace or mechanical engineering degree (or similar discipline) 3+ years of experience in a similar role Experience in design and analysis of piping/tubing systems, experience using analysis tools specific to piping (CAEPipe, Bentley AutoPipe, CEASAR,...etc) Experience with solid modelling or plant modelling, design lifecycle documentation, and configuration control Experience creating fabrication and installation drawings Knowledge of standard components, installation and fabrication methods of piping systems (pipe stock, fittings, connections, valves, fasteners, structural members, fitting, welding, etc) Knowledge offluid components typical in tubing and piping systems (valves, regulators, pumps, etc) Demonstrated ability with self-starting and managing tasks along with team collaboration. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications Advanced Engineering degree 5+ years of relevant experience Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and in-field oversight of construction, testing and/or operations of piping systems Experience with Autocad or Autocad P&ID Experience with steady-state and transient fluid flow analysis Experience with structural hand calculations and analysis software tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, etc.) Knowledge of precision cleaning processes / levels and passivation of stainless steel Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $111,690-$156,366 Other site ranges may differ Inclusivity Statement Don't meet all desired requirements?
