This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-liftorbital launch vehicle capable ofroutinelycarrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar,and beyond.Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designedfrom the beginningto be human-capable. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and external suppliers to define material requirements and efficiently implement production solutions. You will lead specification creation and revision, collaborating with internal customers. You will support composite material and process selection, testing, and qualification efforts. You will engage suppliers to develop new materials and processes for demanding conditions unique to space vehicle structures. The materials and processes you will help define, create, test, and qualify will be used on various space vehicles! We are hiring for all levels! We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to impact safe human spaceflight positively. Responsibilities: Support process development and qualification for composite materials Develop and carry out plans for material characterization, including mechanical testing, thermal analysis, and chemical analysis Support qualification of vendors to implement new processes and hardware, including tooling and equipment reviews Coordinate test panel build and testing at external vendors within schedule and budget constraints Review documentation and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and test process Prepare specifications, test reports, and other documentation Review and approve engineering drawings for alignment with M&P requirements and standard processes Travel to support internal and external production up to 20% of the Time Qualifications: B.S. degree or higher in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a relevant field from ABET accredited school Familiarity with composites and related materials (prepregs, fibers, resins, cores, adhesives, coatings, etc.) Hands-on experience, including composite fabrication and test Experience writing technical documentation Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to balance small and large projects with a diversity of customers Capacity to work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances.
