Our team takes a world view of payments for all of Amazon yet builds highly customized and seamless payment experiences for our global customers. This focus on customer and geography requires working on different technologies and back-end platform systems in order to meet the needs of our customers. Our back-end systems are always available and guarantee that our customer’s orders are never lost and always processed even when downstream services are down. You will have a chance to understand the entire end to end Amazon Retail and Digital businesses and technology stacks, and to influence their development too.

We are seeking an innovative, results-oriented Manager of Software Development with a proven track record of successful delivery. You are someone who will enjoy the challenge of working on complex and highly disparate technologies – from front-end development to back-end highly distributed systems.

You will provide both strategic and tactical oversight to build the features and functionality required to have a best in class offering to our branded gift card customers. You will lead a team in design, development, testing and deployment of software. Key job responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap of the services that enable faster delivery of payment experience to our customers

  • Document and present strategies to senior management.

  • Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments.

  • Management of departmental resources, hiring, mentoring, enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class product development team.

  • Work closely with the engineers and product managers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach.

  • Report on status of development, quality, operations and system performance to leadership.

About the team

Brazil Payments Tech team launches payment experiences for retail and digital businesses in Brazil marketplace. Our mission is to increase eCommerce Payment Coverage by supporting launch of new payment methods and support regulatory and compliance projects relating to payments for Brazil.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
