Job Description: Perkins Coie is looking for a dynamic, experience individual to fill a General Acocunting role and perform regular and project assignments required for general ledger accounting including assigned general ledger account reconciliations and analysis, fixed assets, and banking, to ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and value-added information and services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Responsible for developing and administering processes to analyze, reconcile, and resolve discrepancies in assigned medium and high-risk general ledger accounts. Responsible for completing internal and external audit requests and responding to questions for assigned, medium, and high-risk general ledger accounts. Prepare and file quarterly and annual taxes for various cities/states. Process general ledger re-classes and coding questions as requested by assigned offices or departments. Participate in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process by completing assigned journal entries according to the monthly close schedule. Research and respond professionally to general questions regarding general ledger transactions and ensure adherence to applicable policies and procedures. Provide "back-up" services to the rest of the General Ledger Accounting team. File a variety of documents, financials, and reports. Complete projects as assigned and design and maintain management reports as needed. Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the job position, consistent with the Firm's attendance expectations. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Ability to express self effectively, both orally and in writing, and communicate with all levels of firm personnel. Thorough knowledge of standard general ledger processes and procedures. Fluent in MS Office applications and standard computerized accounting systems. Ability to respond to questions in a timely manner and convey difficult information with clarity and professionalism. Ability to apply regulations and guidelines to standard and non-standard situations. Strong attention to detail, solid organizational skills, and ability to multi-task. Perform well under pressure of heavy volumes and requests and execute assignments. Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED General understanding of standard databases. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires a BA degree in accounting or equivalent. Three to five years of experience as a general ledger accountant and/or full charge bookkeeper or equivalent experience is preferred. Elite 3E, payroll and/or legal experience would be beneficial.
